Help Feed Families in Recovery During the Government Shutdown

Project Patchwork currently provides housing and support for 19 families, including 20 children ranging from 2 weeks to 10 years old. Every parent in our program is courageously rebuilding their life in recovery from substance use disorder — focusing on healing, job training, and finding stable housing.

These parents are working hard to give their children love, safety, and stability. But the current government shutdown is putting that progress at risk. The Department of Human Services has announced:

“If the federal government shutdown continues into November, we won’t be able to issue SNAP food benefits until the shutdown ends.”

This means our families could soon lose access to food assistance. Many of our parents have no family support system to fall back on — they rely on Project Patchwork and our community to make it through.
